KKR to Buy Oil and Gas Producer, Samson

KKR is in talks to buy privately-held Samson Investment Company, a large exploration and production company headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with International and Offshore Divisions headquartered in Houston, Texas. The company’s growth strategy is focused on expanding midstream activities to include gas transportation, processing, and storage. Bloomberg reported that the company may be valued at $8-10 billion in a sale. The company hired Jefferies to pursue buyers or JV partners. This could mark the largest leveraged buyout of an oil and gas producer.

According to Bloomberg, “Private-equity firms have announced $332 billion of global acquisitions or sales this year, an increase of 46 percent from a year earlier.”
